What is the Green Moon Festival?
It is a celebration that manifests the way of being and celebrating of Afro-Caribbean people; This festival is celebrated in the month of September and lasts for three days. It contains characteristics that involve the history of these Islands and the colonization by the Spaniards who introduced Africans to work in large plantations. This mixture of cultures is manifested today in the San Andres culture.
This year, the Green Moon will take place from September 12 to 17 and will be attended by international artists such as Rubén Blades from Panama; the legendary group "Kassav" of Guadaloupe; and Christopher Martin of Jamaica; In addition to special guest artists for Cuban Night and gospel music concerts.
Thanks to entities such as El MinCIT, Fontur, the San Andres Governorate, the Chamber of Commerce and the Green Moon Foundation, this iconic festival in the insular region remains alive to date.
